B&W Film Developing & Printing Course, October 5, 2025

$179.00

This full day workshop will lead you through developing 1-2 rolls of black and white film, creating a contact sheet to review your work, and printing a final print of at least one of your photographs. It is suited to people who have been away from a darkroom for a long time or for those who have never developed and printed their own work.

You will learn how to load metal developing reels and develop one or two rolls of black and white film, leaving with the devleoped negatives in a sleeve to keep them safe and dust-free.

After a break for lunch while our negatives dry, we’ll reconvene and learn the basics of darkroom printing by creating contact sheets of your negatives, choosing negatives to print, and creating a final print.

You will need to come with one to two rolls of shot but undeveloped black and white film and a pack of Ilford MG RC paper. The Camera Company offers a value pack with two rolls of HP5+ film and a 25-sheet package of paper. All the required chemicals for developing and printing will be provided.

The Course will take place in my basement darkoom in Madison’s East Side from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a break for lunch around 12:30 p.m.
